Dana Gainey is a former educator, having worked in the New Orleans Charter system from 2021-2025 and having tutored privately since 2016. In the charter system, they held general education positions as well as the position of reading interventionist, and they had the privilege of working under extremely competent professionals that pushed them to expand what they knew how to do for their students. Over the years, they have acquired a BA in creative writing, a certification in Evidence Based Literacy Intervention, and fluency in French at the B2 level.

Bayou Read and Write is their brain child. After working at a New Orleans French immersion school as an English teacher and reading interventionist, Dana saw the need for intensive literacy-focused academic coaching and decided to make it happen. It is their privilege to be serving you and your student.
